General Summary (What is done and why)
Ciera Bank has been serving Texas Communities since 1890 and we now have 8 locations. We are seeking an experienced Private Trust Officer to join our team. A Private Trust Officer is responsible for developing and managing new and existing trust and agency relationships. Key duties include administering trust accounts in accordance with the governing document, building relationships with clients to set financial goals and objectives, and ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations, and Ciera Bank policies.

This role offers the opportunity to grow into or align with a senior leadership level, such as Vice President (VP) or Senior Vice President (SVP), depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This position can be based in either our Fort Worth or Graham, TX, locations and will be required to travel to the other branch as needed.

Essential Functions (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)
Functional:
  • Maintains regular contact with clients and centers of influence in accordance with established standards of service.
  • Conducts client meetings to set objectives and review trust activities.
  • Participate in matters where the bank is exercising discretion as Trustee.
  • Interact with bank partners and clients’ external advisors to promote ongoing communication.
  • Perform annual account reviews.
  • Attends seminars, reads journals, and maintains a personal development program for maintaining an adequate level of knowledge in trust matters.
  • Performs a variety of duties as assigned to contribute to achieving the mission of the Bank.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position.)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • 3+ years of trust administration experience or a juris doctorate (JD) degree from a credited law school is preferred.
  • CTSA, CFP, or similar professional designation is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of fiduciary, trust, and estate service and administration
  • Strong analytical skills and sound understanding of investment concepts.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of trust systems.
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of investment management and the ability to communicate investment and economic concepts, approaches, and performance to clients.
  • Knowledge of brokerage and trust regulations and compliance.
 
Working Conditions (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position.)
Internal – Work is normally performed in a climate–controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.). Work may be interrupted at any given time. Must be able to return to it without making errors.
External – N/A
 
Physical Demands (The physical effort generally associated with this position)
Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds such as files, documents, and computer printouts. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at an advanced skill level. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels. This job requires no overnight travel.
 
Working Relationships/Contacts (Positions, other than supervisor and immediate co-workers, with which incumbent has frequent contact and the reason for contact.)
Internal – Primarily within own department; occasional contact with other bank personnel.
External – Frequent contact with trust beneficiaries and agency clients.
Supervision of Others – Direct and/or indirect supervision of Trust Department employees.
 
Accountability (Budget/asset amount managed, revenues/profits produced, and/or other financial resource incumbent is accountable for. Also indicates judgement/decision making level.)
Set goals individually and reports to the SVP, Private Trust Officer.
