Deputy Clerk

   The Young County County Clerk’s office is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Deputy Clerk position.
 
General Description:
Performs moderately complex court clerk work primarily involving customer service and support/clerical activities which may include:

  • A variety of administrative, clerical, and bookkeeping; categorizing documents, exhibits, report records and confidential records relating to court cases and files.
  • Assisting the general public in person, over the phone and by email.
  • Receiving and filing court case information and/or legal documents.
  • Entering and updating data into department databases.
  • Providing copies of official court and/or legal documents to the public, courts, litigants, attorneys and other appropriate parties.
  • Preparing and issuing a variety of documents which may include subpoenas, citations, injunctions, writs, order of sales or general correspondence.
  • Providing any other clerical duty necessary to the efficient operation of the District Clerk’s office in accordance with department functions, policies and practices.
 Minimum Qualifications: 
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be a high school graduate or its equivalent with at least three years general office experience. 
Must demonstrate ability to work independently.
Must be able to conduct self in a professional and courteous manner and effectively develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, county officials and the public.
Must have a professional telephone etiquette and possess an equal ability to handle inquires both by telephone and in person in a courteous and professional manner.
Must be able to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of applicable software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe Acrobat)
Must be able to type proficiently with minimal errors.
Must be able to operate various types of office equipment such as copiers, printers, facsimile machines, etc.
Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
 
Conditions of Employment:
Must be punctual and attend work regularly in accordance with County and Office policies and procedures.
Must comply with all County and Office policies and procedures.
Must be dependable and of good moral character.
Must be able to occasionally lift and move boxes weighing up to fifty pounds.
