SUMMARY:2017 May Luncheon & YOU Lead Graduation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 2017 May Luncheon and YOU Lead Graduation! Disaster Preparedness: Is your business ready?\n\n\n\nCatered by Twisted Branch Eatery\n\n\n\nOn August 11th\, 2016\, a tropical weather system began which dropped more than 30 inches of rain in less than 72 hours on the City of Central\, Louisiana\, triggering a wide spread flooding event throughout the city and Southeast Louisiana. This 1000-year weather system\, with less than a 0.1% chance of occurring\, dropped three times as much rain as fell during Hurricane Katrina\, and is the worst natural disaster that this community has ever witnessed. An estimated 80% of the households and 10% of the businesses sustained damage from the flooding.\n\n \n\nBecause of the flooding\, several businesses were out of commission for months and some have permanently closed. The numbers are still being determined but to date the Chamber has lost over 17% of its membership. Some businesses had no flood insurance and the insurance that they did have was not applicable because of a flooding event.\n\n\n\nRon Erickson\, Sr.\, President and CEO of the Central Chamber of Commerce will give you a first-hand account of the events that unfolded and what you need to know to be prepared for any disaster.
